Aragonite
A stunning and classic large cabinet specimen of superbly crystallised Aragonite from the area around Kirkland in west Cumbria, England. At an impressive 12.7 cm tall, crystals of this size from from here are rare. The Aragonite is the characteristic habit of this species for the area, forming somewhat diverging Aragonite crystals with an excellent lustre. The colour grades from translucent white to colourless and gemmy towards the terminations. Light grey-brown rounded inclusions are present in the Aragonite crystals. This well known locality for fine Aragonite specimens lies to the east of the village of Rowrah, about half ways between Frizington and Lamplugh. A terrific Aragonite specimen for its size from the locality.
