.Two ex-matrix, intergrown terminated milky-white Calcite crystals from the classic Cornish locality of Wheal Wrey. Wheal Wrey, close to the village of St. Ive (note, not the more famous town of St. Ives) opened in 1846 and became famous for its superb Calcite which occurred as both small narrow acicular crystals and large prismatic-style crystals. This pair fall into the latter category, whereby the two very acute rhombohedrons form elongated crystals measuring 5.0 and 5.2 cm that are trapezoidal in cross section. The crystals are semi-transparent, milky-white and have a glassy to greasy lustre. A lovely example of Calcite from this famous Cornish locality.
