Greystone quarry is situated a little to the south of Launceston in central north Cornwall and works an area previously populated by several old lead-silver mines, Wheal Sophia being one. Over sixty mineral species are recorded from the quarry and this specimen of well crystallised Pyrite with an overgrowth of milky-white Quartz crystals is a good addition to any suite from this locality. The cubes attain just over 2 cm on edge and have a dark chocolate-brown surface coating-tinged brick-red.
