Cerussite
A rare yet characteristic specimen of V-twinned Cerussite crystals, intergrown over an area of 3 x 2 cm, from Block 14 at Broken Hill Proprietary mine, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. The Cerussite varies from opaque to translucent white to creamy-white and displays a bright, lustre with a slightly greasy appearance. Block 14 was one of the original workings at Broken Hill and later became part of the Proprietary mine as it expanded. What were the Block 14 original working became part of the Block 14 Open Pit. The site is now just a part of the vast open pit complex along the line of lode, but lay very close to the end of what is now Iodide Street.
