Baryte
A choice pair of parallel, conjoined, golden-yellow translucent Baryte crystals to 6.5 cm long by 1.5 cm thick. On one face and one side, the crystals display diagonal planes of internal crazing in many shades of golden-yellow. The opposite face and side have a 2 mm deep internal colour change to a rich, reddish chocolatey-brown. This specimen, from the Frizington mining district of the West Cumberland Iron Field in north-west England, sits on a tiny earthy-red matrix of quartz and hematite. A highly lustrous specimen with part gemmy terminations and displaying chevron crystal development growth marks on the faces.
