A superb, museum quality display specimen of Weardale Fluorite from a very limited recent discovery at Boltsburn West mine. Bright, gemmy, clear blue-grey to an almost electric blue Fluorite of a unique colour for Weardale forms excellent twinned crystals to 1.5 cm on edge, covering almost the entirety of this 21 cm long specimen. Partial overgrowth of brown Siderite and white Calcite along crystal edges adds to the character of this material. The colour of the Fluorite should not be understated. As with some Fluorite, the colour rendition in photographs is poor and in this case is infinitely better in person. When this material appeared in 2017 I was blown away by the quality and bought several, albeit much smaller specimens. A top quality specimen of Fluorite seldom seen in collections.
