Fluorite
The mines of Saxony have produced some of the most magnificent specimens of Fluorite known from throughout Europe and in a vast variety of colours. This stunning golden yellow Fluorite is from Frohnau in the Annaberg District of Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany, forming intergrown partial cubic crystals over a matrix of massive blackberry purple Fluorite with some dull yellow Fluorite at one end. The Fluorite crystals measure between 3 and 5.4 cm on edge and are translucent grading to opaque where they contact the underlying matrix. Their faces, corners and edges are an intense golden syrup to rich honey yellow and are reasonably gemmy. The Fluorite prisms become cloudier and internally crazed towards their centres producing a most attractive zoned appearance. A little etched mid-grey Galena nestles between Fluorite crystals at near to one end. A gorgeous showy large cabinet specimen of yellow Fluorite from Frohnau in Annaberg-Buchholz, Saxony.
