Calcite
Think of Pallaflat mine, then think Calcite! During Victorian and Edwardian times, the iron mines of west Cumbria produced fabulous specimens of Calcite and these are now highly prized. This excellent, ex-matrix scalenohedral crystal is from the famous Pallaflat mine by the village of Bigrigg and superbly exhibits its complex, multi-faced termination which extends for 5 cm of its length. A semi-transparent crystal, with a patchwork of interwoven internal planes which reflect light throughout the crystal. A great west Cumbrian Calcite at a very reasonable price.
