Sooty black massive manganese oxide forms a dense matrix shot through with shallow vugs, most of which are lined with micro-crystals of Hausmannite. From the famous occurrence at Wyndham Pit at Bigrigg, Egremont, Cumbria, the specimen comes with a W.F. Davidson (Penrith) label, dated 1959.
