Millerite
This fine example of the nickel sulphide Millerite is from the International Colliery at Blaengarw, near to Bridgend in Wales and was once in the Richard W. Barstow Collection. RWB's white label accompanies this small cabinet specimen noting it was collected by him in May 1981. Fine golden hair-like acicular crystals to 1.5 cm span a Siderite-lined cavity in a clay-ironstone matrix. This is a great Millerite and because all the crystals lie well within the vug they are reasonably well protected from damage when handling (providing you don't stick your finger in the vug!).
