A 10 x 7 x 7 mm translucent deep claret-red Sphalerite crystal sits at the front of a 2.0 x 1.5 cm Quartz and Calcite lined shallow vug in a cream and tan dolomitic matrix. From the P?'bram mining district in the Czech Republic, the Sphalerite appears black with deep red patches, but seen close to is a uniform deep claret. The crystal is complex, showing multiple faces and may be twinned but requires more detailed examination. A terrific 'ruby' Sphalerite from P?'bram.
