Pyromorphite
Rich, vibrant lime-green crystals of Pyromorphite cover much of the display faces of the specimen from the Beihilfe mine, Halsbrucke, Germany. The crystals of Pyromorphite are small (in the 1 mm range) and range from perfect hexagonal prisms, to globular forms with an overall appearance as being draped across a mixed matrix of Quartz and intensely oxidized Galena in stalactitic forms. Residual bright metallic Galena forms a core about which it has altered in banded layers from white, grey and pale yellow to green on the outer surface. Ex Martin Bohaty Collection, remnants of a very old label affixed to the back of the specimen indicate that this is from a much older collection.
