Excellent, well-formed prismatic crystals of Cinnabar on contrasting white Dolomite from Fenghuang County in the Xiangxi Prefecture of Hunan Province, China. Although not recorded with this specimen, it is probably from the Chatian mercury-zinc (Hg-Zn) ore field. Fine and lustrous silvery maroon to red blocky crystals of Cinnabar to 1.2 cm tall stand proud of the creamy-white crystallized Dolomite matrix. The height and structure of the individual Cinnabar crystals is both remarkable and spectacular. Without doubt, a fine and classic Chinese Cinnabar, a real eye-catcher!
