Malachite ps. Azurite, on Bayldonite ps. Mimetite
A large miniature or small small cabinet piece, here, presents two very classic Tsumeb pseudomorphs (replacements): The malachite has replaced azurites, and those encrusted very rare exampels of elongated mimetite being replaced by bayldonite. This is an OLD classic, from this old classic mine! Such crystals of bayldonite do not exist from any other locality. Velvety malachite crystals completely cover the presentation side of the matrix on this very showy and unusual piece from Tsumeb. The other side shows off the elongated mimetite replacements better. From the first (and upper) oxidized zone of this very famous mine (circa 1890s to 1920). There are few on the market due to many factors: weathering, miner preservation, and lack of survival after over 100 years!
