Malachite and Chrysocolla slice
This is a gorgeous, old-time, colorful doubly polished Malachite and Chrysocolla slice from the Congo. It has very intricate and artistic textures that include very well defined, thin, concentric and alternating rounded bands of rich green Malachite and sky-blue Chrysocolla that represent the botryoidal texture at the top of the piece that transitions downward into small, intricate, billowing, variegated dark and medium green structures that are just engaging. Combined botryoidal Malachite with Chrysocolla is rare from the Congo and hasn't been found in decades! The piece is beautifully polished on both sides and both sides are just slightly different which adds some extra character to an already captivating piece! This is modern material that showed up on the market in China, and so it is probably from The Star of the Congo Mine. This has largely been an intermittent, artisanally mined specimen producer that has yielded some great secondary copper minerals - many of which have gone to China in recent years, as well. While not crystallized, this is just the kind of mineral-related beautiful object that is a good accent and companion to crystals in a display case. It is a quality which demands attention, which we do not say about many slices!
