Fluorite (double "corners")$4,800.00

A strange example of a double corner... a very rare version of the so-called famous "Elmwood corners" in fluorite. I had always remembered this piece from Steve Neely's collection because I bought it from him and sold it to my friend Scott Kleine... and later saw it again in Scott Klein's collection specializing in these mineral oddities of fluorite (and which we bought entire a few years ago). Normally, in certain environments in Elmwood, the original cubic crystal would dissolve away in a preferential manner to expose the gem corners, which then fell to the pocket floor as singles if they survive at all. Doubles are so very rare, and this is such a nicely balanced miracle of survival. For those who collect fluorite, you know! This has minor petroleum inclusions - which give it a fluorescence in SW UV light. Formerly in the Scott Kleine corners collection #14; and Dr. Stephen Neely Elmwood small cabinets #11. Unique! 1990s material.
