This Copper comes from one of the classic old mining regions in the Urals, worked as far back as the 1700s. Complete all around, the 3-dimensional miniature is sharp and intricate. The Copper crystals, with their fine, rich patina, are in a herringbone pattern on one side, and hoppered crystals on the other. Almost certainly there is prevalent spinel twinning, and this choice specimen is tipped by two complex, hoppered Coppers that reach up to 1.2 cm long. Sharp and aesthetic, this is an excellent miniature-sized Copper mined over a hundred years ago. Previously in the collection of Austrian collector and dealer Anton Berger. Featured in the book Collecting Classics: The Legacy of Kay Robertson (Mineralogical Record, May 2025) on page 70.
