Hubnerite on Quartz and Dickite
While the Sweet Home mine is known for its world-famous rhodochrosites, that is not the only mineral species found there. Shown here is a sharp and undamaged hubnerite blade, 2.1 cm in length, with quartz. A fine thumbnail from the thumbnail collection of Martin C. Jensen (b. 1959) of Reno, Nevada, USA. He is not only a mineral collector, but an SEM specialist at the Mackay School of Mines, and has contributed multiple studies on localities in the western United States. The mineral species Jensenite is named in his honor. Self collected by Martin on June 10, 2004.
