Leifite and Serandite$1,450.00

Serandite of this kind of crystal habit was really only found in a few pockets in the 1980s in quality like this. Rare MATRIX specimen of serandite showing the natural variety of associated species found with the material, as so many serandite crystals were often found simply loose and without any matrix at all. This fine, complete, salmon-colored serandite crystal is 3 cm across and nicely centered on matrix, surrounded by fine and robust leifite crystals of several different styles. According to the previous owner, Dr. Rob Woodside, the small black specks are sphalerite. A fine piece, long in the Woodside collection of Canadian classics (with Rob being one of the most serious and well known Canadian collectors over many decades). As a side note, some older serandites are now reclassified as another species, schizolite - those being "the other habit" and style, whereas this is TRULY still serandite.
