A striking, perfect, gemmy and transparent octahedral crystal of shocking, razor sharp green fluorite, here perched on contrasting quartz. This is from early 2000s finds at a remote location in South Africa. While much material was produced, nearly all of it was green, or green on green... the choicest specimens at the time being seen as green on white quartz. Few small cabinet specimens of this quality would have been available then and, in fact, this piece was held back by the blasting engineer on the project and only sold a decade later, privately. It was, and remains, a special example of this prolific find, notable for its 360 degree perfection, transparency, and the balanced contrast to white sparkling quartz which was only found in 1 out of 100 of the find (now nearly 20 years ago!). Fluorescent purple under SWUV.
