Choice spray of lovely, iridescent Berthierite, associated with Calcite and possibly Siderite. The Berthierite displays one gorgeous, radiating fan, tinted with iridescent shimmers of purple, blue, and gold. The base is composed of Calcite crystals, and near the top of the Berthierite fan is an island of Calcite (and possibly siderite) crystals. An excellent LARGE specimen of this rare sulfide species, and absolutely classic for this district. I have seen few of these for sale over the years, and this one is a beast in size. Fioravanti acquired it on travels in Romania, presumably at the mines, in 1972.
