Fluorite on Pyrite

These startlingly colored intense green Peruvian Fluorites are emplaced on a plate of bright Pyrite crystals. Nearly a dozen lustrous, gemmy to translucent, sea-green, cubo-octahedral Fluorite crystals are loosely clustered on this piece from small finds in 2020, now famous and spreading through the mineral world while we held ours back waiting to see if more might come. Most of the Fluorites have good luster on the octahedral faces with an unobstructed view into the crystals to the point where you can actually see the Pyrite crystals of the matrix on the other side! Select cube and octahedral faces have a patterned texture on their surfaces with some whitish inclusions at the surface that result in a satiny texture and reduced visibility into the crystals. Contrasting, 1 to 2 mm, bright, brassy yellow Pyrite crystals serve as a substrate for the Fluorite crystals. An attractive small cabinet combo that is absolutely unique in the mineral world!
