Copper (twinned)
Iconic coppers showing this sharp spinel-twinned crystallization first started coming out of this remote copper mine in the late 1990s, and startled the mineral collector market. They looked for all the world like old Arizona classics. And, they kept getting better and better. This unusual cluster of crystals forms a latticework and is unlike most of them which are vertical "sticks" in general, and so it really stands out to the eye. Although thin, it is space-filling so it really has visual impact. This came out in 2004, and was purchased directly at the time by Karl and Carol Warning, in whose collection it has remained until recently. It is a highly aesthetic and very unusual version of Itauz copper. The only problem for me is trying to decide which way to display it, as it looks good BOTH horizontally or vertically! As shown in the photos here, it sort of looks like a pair of dancing partners.
