Scheelite (Fluorescent)
The Darwin lead-silver-zinc district occurs in the Darwin Hills of west central Inyo County, California. The ore bodies are related to intrusives, and the district is particularly well-known for its Scheelite crystals, which are also the primary Tungsten ore. This pair of intergrown Scheelite crystals are sharp, have almost a metallic/pearly luster, and a grayish-tan color. The crystals are contacted at the bottom, and they are fluorescent. This specimen is classic for the Darwin District. Some people have said they are actually replacements of stolzite, though I am not sure about that. In any case, this is an old classic, extremely rarely seen on the market and is in fine condition.
