Zircon (fluor.) on Biotite and Hornblende
Norway is well-known for its Zircons (the type localities are there), and this old, classic specimen upholds the tradition of quality. The cluster has gemmy to translucent Zircon crystals with deep, golden-red color, excellent adamantine luster, and good form. The largest reaches up to 4 cm, and is actually doubly-terminated! It is complete, though with some contacted faces where it grew against other crystals. The well-exposed Zircons rest on a matrix of Biotite and Hornblende, a classic combination. These Norwegian Zircons are very uncommon on the market nowadays in this quality! Very good yellow-orange fluorescence. Purchased from a Swedish dealer in Tucson, 1989.
