Topaz
This relatively large, unusually shaped Topaz crystal comes from a unique pocket in Medina, known for this "rounded" and color-variegated style. This locality is known for its stunning, gem quality Aquamarine crystals and has also produced some few Topaz crystals like this one. The periphery and top portion of the crystal is completely transparent and colorless with attractive veils of internal crazing that reflect incident light. The central interior has a light blue-green, horizontal "zone" not quite a centimeter thick below which there is a darker area, both of which are gemmy. Prism faces are very glassy exhibiting barely discernible striations and the terminal faces also glassy and have an ever so slightly textured surface. A very unusual and attractive Brazilian Topaz! It looks odd, and it is odd, but that is what makes it collectible.
