Description
An exceptionally good specimen from this locality. Large, subhedral, partial crystals of brown-black johnsomervilleite exhibiting conchoidal fracture with fresh surfaces displaying translucency and brown internal reflections, fantastic for the species considering few specimens exist. Intergrown with granular massive, light brown jahnsite and crusts of crude jahnsite crystals as well as seams, streaks, and crusts of blue vivianite. Some possible phosphosiderite in association. Additional minerals include subhedral albite, milky and smoky quartz. This specimen was highlighted and confirmed visually by Dr. Mark Feinglos, when he helped us review the collection, as one of the most rare minerals in it. It is a superb museum piece and very rich. Ex. Paulo Matioli collection.
