An extremely rare old classic, perhaps from over 100 years ago. Microlite is an uncommon oxide found in albitized granite pegmatites and is the tantalum analogue of Pyrochlore. This slightly variegated brown crystal (contacted on the back) is from a locality that has rarely reported Microclore, and none with good crystal faces that have been preserved. It is a fine locality piece - not elegant but certainly uncommon. One of the last major American Civil War battles occurred nearby in April, 1865. Mining efforts are small and old. We occasionally see these on the market out of the old museums.
