Quartz with clay inclusions
Numerous, divergent sprays of off-white, thick, hair-like fibers emanate from the bottom of a relatively large shard of fractured, glassy Quartz from an unusual locality in Brazil. The slightly divergent, acicular crystals may be a clay mineral variety as previously reported from this locality. There must be scores of separate bundles of the mineral within the totally transparent Quartz that range in length from 1 to 2.5 cm in length and each slightly divergent bundle is composed of several to a few dozen individual hairlike crystals and all of them originate from the bottom of the specimen only. It is a very interesting piece that is quite captivating!
