Adamite in Limonite pocket
This is a highly unusual pocket specimen showing the context in which these formed, so beautifully: two, rounded spherical clusters of tightly packed crystalline adamite, to 2 cm across, sit in a vug of matrix. The adamite spheres are deeply colored a bright lustrous brown with glassy sparkles on all the little tips. The larger sphere also has minor white calcite sprays that contrast superbly with the adamite. The matrix itself is curvaceous, subtly colored, and really beautiful - the first time we have said that about "limonite matrix rock" from Ojuela, that I can recall. The Avila collection was filled with fine examples of adamite of unusual style and shapes, of which this certainly qualifies!
