Morganite with Lepidolite
This is a beautiful Stewart Mine Morganite with Lepidolite from Bill Larson's San Diego County pegmatite collection. This lovely miniature consists of one larger, 3 cm, and a second smaller, 1.8 cm crystal in tight, parallel intergrowth adorned with Lepidolite. The Morganites are both completely transparent, so much so that you can see completely through the large crystal in places and the Lepidolite INSIDE both Morganite crystals can be easily observed! The Morganite crystals have a light pink color tinged with lavender, probably from the enclosed Lepidolite, and display classic, textbook, thick tabular, hexagonal form with pyramidal modifications. The lavender Lepidolite crystals are in small rosettes averaging 2.5 cm across scattered and locally clustered on the Morganites as well as inclusions of the same that were incorporated during the growth of the Morganite crystals, almost forming a partial phantom within the larger crystal. This is most likely from early 1980s finds, from the San Diego mine that was producing at the time. Bill Larson San Diego collection.
