Wire transfers available, to set up
This is an extraordinary cluster of senarmontite crystals as well as being a significant, historical piece. The cluster is composed of a plethora of lustrous, gray, translucent, well-formed octahedra to 6mm. Discovered in 1845, the Djebel Hammimat mine was the first antimony deposit mined in Algeria and was worked until the middle of 20th century. It also happens to be the the type and by far the best locality for the species. A venerable old label with an 1848 date accompanies the piece. Most of these were collected by the French expediionary and exploratory groups at the time.
