Tincalconite ps after Borax
Two monstrous, white as snow, crystals of Tincalconite after Borax in parallel growth embody this small cabinet piece from the Borax mines located in Death Valley, California. These originate as borax crystals and are more clear, but they rapidly dehydrate and alter to tincalconite. The largest crystal measures a whopping 8.2 x 7.2 x 3.0cm and these crystals are largely complete and ARE NOT your run-of-the-mill "white mineral". Between the artistic geometry, angles and lines of the "Borax" crystal morphology, these crystals are brilliant white and create great impact in a case! We may take this mineral for granted in for its use in household cleaning products, but how many fantastic specimens like this have we seen of this mineral? Not many! A commanding specimen! These were all collected by James Minette, back when he was manager of a facility in Boron in the 1960s and 1970s.
