This hefty specimen of nearly solid silver is a cluster of elongated spinel twinned crystals, enveloping a small mass of calcite in the middle. It is a rich, important locality piece. It is desirable as a collector piece because it actually has a fineness of crystallization to it, and because it is simply not as ugly as most others from the old Ontario silver mines! This is from the silver collection of Bob Hauck, one of the brothers behind the Sterling Museum in New Jersey. He had a long held collection of silvers, specializing in Canadian silver specimens. The core of that collection was the John Durkos silver collection of Ontario silvers, from which this surely originated in the heyday of the mines there. Complete all around, with multiple display angles. 155 grams.
