Michigan silvers are the classic and most widely known specimens for those who want fine, three-dimensional crystallized silvers. This sharp large miniature features a 100 percent crystallized surface all around, with crystals to 1 cm and even one "bridge" shaped crystal loop to 2 cm! All of it is sharp, and crystallized without the massive "rough" crudeness of a base or matrix that often mars the visual beauty of some Michigan silvers. This is the lowest numbered item in the Pohl collection that we have seen yet at 2753 (out of over 110,000 pieces in her nineties!), although we are fairly sure that she acquired it long before she started a formal catalog and caught up with numbering. It probably was acquired by 1950. This is certainly an older piece yet, with the looks of Quincy material from the mid to late 1800s. We assign the mine name based on experience and probability as most likely, although it is certainly from the area of mines known as the "Houghton Lode" in any case.
