Chondrodite
An old-time, classic and fine piece from the long-closed Tilly Foster Mine of New York of sharp, lustrous, all gemmy, color-zoned chondrodite crystals to 8 mm nicely concentrated on the top edge of a sliver of magnetite ore. The crystals are gemmier, overall, than most specimens we have seen and have gorgeous cherry-red or orange-red zones. This is an excellent piece from this famous iron mine (magnetite ore), that closed in 1897. Ex. University of Arizona Collection and comes with an old Lazard Cahn label, a prominent U.S. dealer from the mid-1890s until his death in 1940.
