Eudialyte, Aegirine
A rare, excellent combination specimen of a fairly large, 1.4 cm, lustrous, carmine-red eudialyte crystal embedded atop contrasting matrix richly inset with lustrous aegirine blades from the Khibiny Massif of Russia. Eudialyte is a rare sodium, calcium zirconium silicate found only in unusual igneous terrains, such as nepheline syenites and alkalic granites. This is an exceptional and showy example of this rare species from this locality. Usually they are without luster. It's an important piece. These came out in the 1990s.
