Fluorite
Choice pair of gemmy, true blue Fluorites from the Mahoning #4 Mine. These cubes, contacted in the back and partially contacted in the primary view, are in very good condition and they have a silky luster. This rich, true blue color is uncommon for the district, and the crystals themselves are so gemmy that these are considered cuttable. What gems these would make! This Fluorite was actually mined in the 1940's from a mud seam just below the Bethel seam, and it was recovered in 1981 from a dump near the adit entrance. We are fortunate that it survived, especially given the gem value which the previous owner (Ross Lillie) noted immediately and added to his own label. The two crystals are 4.5 cm and 3.8 cm, respectively. RCL 544
