Azurite with Malachite
An excellent Azurite cluster from the famous Morenci Mine, a copper mining operation that began in the 19th Century! This piece is composed of a few dozen, stubby, thick-bladed, sharply formed, randomly oriented Azurite crystals averaging over a centimeter in size with the largest crystal 1.5cm across. Crystals exhibit a vitreous to satin luster depending on the crystal face and orientation of the piece. Many crystals show slight replacement by bright green Malachite, especially around the periphery. The matrix is mostly fibrous Malachite with some admixed Azurite from the crystals on the display face. This Azurite is in excellent condition with no damage to the crystals on the display face OR the periphery! A gorgeous Azurite from the Morenci Mine, or anywhere!
