Grossular (Var: Hessonite)
This gorgeous miniature is glassier and gemmier than it appears, in person. It is, gram for gram, one of the absolute finest quality garnets you could ask for from this now-closed locality. It was, as you can see, a cover specimen for the Min Record over a decade ago. Since then, the mine has closed and pieces of such quality have become only harder to obtain. This one is, I feel, priced for its intrinsic value and not for the pedigree or publication per se. Or in any case, not much for those extra bonuses!
