Calcite
The karst terrain of Yunnan Province, near this city, hosts an amazing variety of fine calcite deposits. This particular flower-like specimen has always been a favorite of mine, and was in my own China collection for many years until recently I pulled it out (I have too many....love the stuff, but I have too many!). It is beautifully balanced, complete all around, and aesthetic. It has a great color and high luster. It is not damaged at all. I bought it in the mid-1990s. Joe Budd Photos.
