Zincite
This remarkable oldtimer is unusual in that it is a cabinet piece and so it is showier than most such pieces, and besides this few large specimens of any quality are available (at any price!). It consists of a large zone of massive zincite embedded as a vein in classic franklinite/willemite/calcite matrix. In that zincite vein are several SHARP crystals formed in the seam. The large one measures just over 2 cm and is quite good, although flat-laying. A smaller crude crystal to the lower-left, and a smaller but exquisite crystal to the upper-left, provide accents. The old label dates it to the 1890's (a time when many of the significant Franklin zincites were found). This is a MAJOR Franklin specimen only recently deaccessioned from a private collection (not Grenier...but this is a logical page to put it on anyhow) 11 x 8 x 6 cm
