Galena With Cerussite, Anglesite, Mimetite, and Quartz
According to Julius Zweibel, this piece was considered one of the most important pieces from the collection of Dr. Bruno Geier, who was the mine mineralogist at Tsumeb for 25 years. His original label accompanies the Ed Ruggeiro note card label noting these comments, dated October of 1978. Galena crystals from Tsumeb rarely exceed 1 cm in size, but the largest of these dozen, sharp cubes modified by the octahedron reaches 1.5 cm. They are sharp and lustrous, by Tsumeb standards for this species (which is rare, here). The Galenas rest on a matrix of micro Cerussite, Anglesite, Mimetite, and Quartz. Truly outstanding in every sense, for a galena from Tsumeb!
