Kutnohorite

Gorgeous explosion of pink in this mesmerizing and sculptural Kutnohorite piece from the Kalahari Manganese Field in South Africa! A dramatic cluster of two Kutnohorite clusters, one larger and one smaller composed of rich, pastel pink slender crystals that are divergent from the base upward and very three-dimensional from a very small modern find (circa 2015) at the Wessels Mine. The largest cluster is 4.6 cm in length and there are a few other subordinate and variably complete sprays around the base. The two main sprays are in excellent condition. The matrix consists of spongy, grayish Calcite. A super attractive piece and Kutnohorite almost always forms in these fetching and unique bright pink sprays! These have a unique form, very different from material found here in the 1990's. The overall look is like pink cotton candy. This was, in my opinion, one of the very best of them. I saw them with a direct source dealer at the Denver show in that time, and bought this one (which has sold and come back).
