Celestine
This is a gorgeous specimen with "sparkle" to it, and it just shines in a case. This piece is one of those few Illinois accessory minerals that can hold its own when displayed with Fluorites from these mines. It glitters and glows. Short prismatic, lustrous and translucent, light sky-blue celestine crystals to 1.5 cm in length are aesthetically clustered on a knob of white matrix. It is complete all around, and seems contacted (but micro-crystallized) on the back perhaps where it grew against a Baryte ball. Mined in December 1987. Ross Lillie label notes that he pried this out of the personal collection case of a dealer in the area named Palmer, shortly after it was mined. For this particular style of celestine, it is one of the finest we know of. RCL 842.
