Bismuth Sulfosalts With Chalcopyrite, Tetrahedrite, and Siderite on Pyrite
Attractive in its own way, this is a complex combination of some rare Bismuth Sulfosalt species (requires analysis so say which, and how much) with Chalcopyrite, Tetrahedrite, and Siderite, all on a plate of intergrown Pyrite. The Sulfosalts are the thousands of metallic, silver-black needles, up to about 4 mm, that comprise the majority of the specimen. They are intergrown with Tetrahedrites, and the piece is decorated with lustrous, iridescent Chalcopyrites and tannish-gray Siderite discs. The Chalcopyrites reach about 7 mm in size, and the Siderites about 5 mm. This is a fine combination piece, very sparkly, and with interesting species potential. Art edited the book on Peru, and obtained many oddities like this as he worked on that project.
