Description
Well-developed seam of Quartz crystals, on Hematite, mostly coated by finely crystalline Chalcodite (Stilpnomelane group). The Chalcodite, for which the Sterling Mine is the First Reported Locality, has the brassy-green color and metallic luster that you would expect. The small, spherical clusters of Chalcodite appear to both coat, and include, the gemmy Quartz crystals. The largest Quartz crystal is 1 cm tall, and the Chalcodite clusters are more in the range of 1 mm, at best. One of the better of the locality pieces I have seen from here, of this oddball material!
