Quartz (Var: Amethyst)

This is a BIG cluster of WHOPPER crystals of amethyst from North Carolina - from old finds in the 60s rather than the ones of the past few years. Though you would describe these as amethystine, they also have pretty smoky highlights. The luster is fine and glassy, and the faces are razor-sharp. One of these crystals measures 5 cm from side to side!
