Wulfenite
Old Slovenia wulfenites really set the standard in old mineralogy, and in European collecting of lead minerals in particular, for a LONG time. Today, most people are familiar with the great wulfenites from Arizona, Mexico, and China, and have forgotten that Slovenia actually produced wulfenites that could rank among the world's top locales. This is one such piece, a very old specimen that has large size, a pure butterscotch color, and thick, robust crystals. It has a mesmerizing secondary growth of tiny wulfenites outgrown epitaxial on the original crystals. Joe Budd Photos.
