This oldtime specimen appears to date back to the EARLY part of the 19th century, perhaps the mid-1800s or earlier. Embedded in matrix are clear veins and spots of silver and one actual wire crystal which reaches.65 cm across, and with malachite in association! This is an incredible old piece of huge rarity! The name alone indicates it was taken and labeled before the mini-silver rush in which this initial prospect was renamed and enlarged into Silver Hill. Accompanying this specimen are old labels including a display label of the oldest style from The Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia (right) and what seems to be a label from the collector who donated it, one Samuel Ashmead (left). Could that number really mean it was accession number 90 in the collection? I think so, as a matching number is painted on the underside of the specimen! SOLD AS A SET ONLY with item TUC8-120
